Pastor Evelyn Henderson King
Greater Gospel Church
Lorton, VA
Rev. King was licensed and ordained as a minister of the Gospel at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Arlington, Virginia under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Leonard L. Hamlin, Sr. November 23, 1997. In her many leadership capacities at Macedonia, she served as Associate Ministry, Director of Support Ministries, Director of Vacation Bible School, Sunday school teacher, Tribe Coordinator of South Arlington, and wedding coordinator. As Director of Support Ministries, Rev. King covered nine ministries, Pulpit Officiant, coordinating worship assignment schedules for 12 Associate Ministers and leading the Congregational Care Ministry to the sick and shut in.
Rev. King’s passions include proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who will listen, singing to the glory of God, as well as bringing private worship to the sick and shut in. She served as Interim Pastor of the Laurel Grove Baptist Church of Franconia, Virginia for 30 months. Under her leadership at Laurel Grove the church grew spiritually as well in membership.
Currently Rev. King serves as the Servant Pastor of the Greater Gospel Church – a mission church founded out of obedience to God. The church is seeking to ‘live the Great Commission’, committed to God, and connected to Christ, communicating His love, consistent in His service. Under her leadership, the church has grown spiritually and in membership, all to God’s glory!
Under Rev. King’s leadership Greater Gospel Church has partnered with “Blessings A In Backpacks” in the Fairfax County region to help provide food and clothing for students and their families on the weekends, Spring break, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. This affords the church the opportunity to live the Great Commission and move the gospel ministry and message from the seat to the street.
Rev. King’s personal motto states that she is “Saved and sent to serve. Committed to consistently communicating the love of Christ in every situation and circumstance in order that all may know they are forever connected to God.” “Taking the Gospel message and ministry from the seat to the street!”
Phil. 3:13…forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those things, which are ahead.
